A review of anomalous rare earth elements and yttrium in coal

As described by Zhang (1993) and the China Coal Geology Bureau (1996), a widespread coal covering a total area of ~ 70,000 km 2 was deposited in a peat swamp that developed on the mafic tuffs in a continental environment (China Coal Geology Bureau, 1996). The mafic tuff generally exhibits positive Ce anomalies (Fig. 4 A).

ABSTRACT. China is, and in the coming decades should continue to be, the largest producer and user of coal in the world. The high volume of coal usage in China has focused attention not only on the toxic trace elements that may be released from coal combustion but also on the valuable elements that may occur in the coal and associated …

Origin of a kaolinite-NH4-illite-pyrophyllite-chlorite …

The coal from the Jincheng Coalfield, Qinshui Basin, is a medium- to low-ash yield anthracite. The mineral assemblage in the anthracite is dominated by NH 4-illite and kaolinite; with varying proportions of pyrophyllite, chlorite, pyrite, and calcite; and minor anatase, rutile, diaspore, florencite, and synchysite.Kaolinite formed during early …

Analysis and significance of mineral matter in coal seams

The proportions of microscopically visible minerals in a coal sample may be evaluated in conjunction with microscopic point count analysis used to determine the relative percentages of the different maceral components Taylor et al., 1998, Standards Australia, 1998parative studies (e.g. Ward et al., 1996) suggest that the total …
