I'm trying to disassemble a Deckel FP1 slotting head, and I can't figure out how to separate the head from the ram. I remove the 4 nuts (so the head will swivel), and try to separate it. A small gap opens up (~1/16"), but that's it. I don't want to force it in case I'm missing something. Any tips? By the way, this is an older style slotting head.

Some additional detail information: As has been pointed out the later dial shift FP1's have a "40" taper spindle. There is some range of opinion here but the "40" is stronger and was the same taper used by th larger Deckels from their inception so it might be seem as more modern and a plus.
